Kemicard vs Cuseum: Digital Membership Cards for Salesforce Orgs

Both put membership cards in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and both work with Salesforce. Cuseum syncs membership data from Salesforce into its own platform. Kemicard is installed in the Salesforce org and renders each card from the Salesforce record. For museums and nonprofits on Salesforce weighing Kemicard as a Cuseum alternative, that difference decides most of what follows.

The short version. If you want a museum-focused engagement suite, or your members live in Tessitura, Altru or Raiser's Edge, Cuseum is built for that. If your memberships are in Salesforce (NPSP, Nonprofit Cloud or a custom object) and you want the card to be the Salesforce record rather than a synced copy, Kemicard is.

Where Cuseum is the better choice

  • You want a museum engagement suite, not just a card. Cuseum is built around cultural organizations, and the card sits alongside its other visitor and member tools.
  • Your members are not in Salesforce. Cuseum connects to the ticketing and donor systems museums commonly run, including Tessitura, Altru and Raiser's Edge NXT. Kemicard only works inside Salesforce.
  • You want the vendor to set up the connection. Cuseum configures the Connected App and field mapping for you.

Where Kemicard is the better choice

  • The card is the record, not a copy of it. With a sync, a member's status lives in two places and the integration keeps them aligned. Kemicard renders the card from the Salesforce record itself, so a renewal, upgrade or lapse changes the card directly, with nothing in between.
  • One app covers more than membership. Donor cards, volunteer IDs, event tickets and guest passes can all be issued from the same org with the same app (museums, nonprofits).
  • Your own Flows run it. Issuing, renewal reminders and lapses run from record-triggered Flows your admin already understands. There is no external workflow to keep in step.
  • Scans and engagement land in Salesforce as records, so they appear in the same reports and dashboards as your membership and fundraising data.
  • You can budget before the first call. Kemicard's pricing, including the nonprofit discount, is published.

A note on "native"

Cuseum describes Salesforce as one of the systems it supports "natively" [4]. In its usage, that means a built-in connector rather than a custom build, and that is a fair description of a connector.

When Kemicard says Salesforce-native, it means something narrower: the app is installed inside the Salesforce org, and there is no separate platform holding the member data that the card is built from. Both are reasonable uses of the word. When you compare vendors, ask each one where the card's data is stored between syncs.
