Wallet Tickets for Blackthorn Events, in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet
Blackthorn Events runs registration and check-in inside Salesforce. Kemicard adds event tickets designed in Salesforce and issued to both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and the Blackthorn app still does the scanning at the door.
What Blackthorn already does
Blackthorn is worth understanding before adding anything to it:
- Since its 5.12 release, Blackthorn shows registered iOS attendees an Add to Apple Wallet button on their AttendeeLink page [1][2].
- The pass carries the attendee's QR code, the event name, the start date and time, and the venue [1].
- Android users do not see the button. Blackthorn's documentation says Google Wallet support is in progress [1].
- Check-in runs through Blackthorn's mobile app, which works offline and syncs back to Salesforce [3].
If your attendees are on iPhones and the standard pass layout is enough, Blackthorn's built-in pass may be all you need.
What Kemicard adds
- Google Wallet as well as Apple Wallet, so Android attendees get a ticket in their wallet too.
- Your own ticket design. Branding, fields, images and the back of the pass are built in Kemicard Studio inside Salesforce (event template guide).
- Updates after the ticket is issued. Change the start time or room in Salesforce and the ticket on the attendee's phone changes too.
- Push notifications and location reminders on the ticket (notifications and geofencing).
- Issued from a Flow. A record-triggered Flow on the attendee record decides when the ticket is sent, and to whom.
- More than tickets. VIP credentials, speaker and crew passes, and membership cards can all be issued from the same org.
How the two work together
- Registration in Blackthorn creates the attendee record.
- Kemicard issues and emails the wallet ticket from that record.
- The Blackthorn app scans it at the door, and the attendee is checked in.
Blackthorn stores attendees on its Attendee object [4], so the ticket and the check-in stay on the same Salesforce record your event team already reports on.
Blackthorn remains your event management system: registration, payments, sessions and check-in. Kemicard is the wallet-ticket layer on top of it.
